Bleach Introduction:
Bleach is split up into an anime and a manga series which was created by the author known as Tite Kubo. There are currently 20 volumes out in Japan right now and new chapters are released weekly. There are currently 10 chapters released in the US by Viz Media.
Bleach Storyline:
The storyline of the bleach series is very unique compared to other animes’ that have been release.
Races:
There are two kinds of races in the bleach world. One called spirits and the other called humans. The humans are much like ordinary people and can’t sense any spirits. However there is one type of group called the Quincy and they have the power to sense and fight hollows.
Whereas spirits have a form which is composed of Reishi which is similar to a normal human flesh body. The actual soul seems to exist in the chest of the body.
Plus:
A plus is a disembodied spirit of a person that has just died. These Plus have a spiritual body which is compressed of reishi. These are kept on earth by something called the Chain of Destiny which ties the chain to the soul to something that keeps them there. If the soul is removed from the body that isn’t dead and the chain breaks then at this stage the person will die. However if the chain is broken, it begins to corrode and it the corrosion is complete before the shinigami performs a soul burial then the plus turns into a hollow.
Shinigami:
Shinigami, known as death gods are a guide to souls. They are made up from spiritual matter and they cannot be detected by any human and like to kill hollows since they are there rivals. They use soul slayers and demon arts to fight. If a shinigami has come to the real world, then they are only allowed to use 20% of their original strength and have to ask permission from soul society to raise it.
Quincy:
The Quincy were a group of humans who fought against the hollows in the past using bow and arrows which is composed of spiritual energy. Due to the fact that the shinigami wiped out nearly all the Quincy 200 years ago, they are now nearly all extinct except for one so far in the story who is Ishida Uryuu. The difference between the shinigami and Quincy is that the quincy absorb energy from their surroundings and kill hollows rather than cleanse their spirits.
Hollow:
Hollows are the main antagonists in Bleach. They are basically evil spirits which dwell in Hueco Mundo. Just like the shinigami’s, they cannot be seen by a normal human and they are made of spiritual matter. Mostly all hollows wear a white mask but some have the power to remove them which are called “arrancar”
Arrancar:
Arrancar are a group of hollows who have the ability to remove their white masks. In other words, they are like shinigami-hollow types and they remove their mask to gain full shinigami power. There are three really strong types of hollows which are:
1. Gillian (Menos Grandes): These are no match for captain level shinigami’s as they rely on a primitive intellect.
2. Ajuukaru: These are smaller than Gillian but far superior both intellectually and in combat. Not many of them exist.
3. Vastoorode: Most of these are humanoid looking and the most powerful type of hollow. Only few of them exists and they've manifested only in Hueco Mundo. A single vastoorode is said to be stronger than any shinigami captain. 10 of them would bring a total chaos to the Soul Society.
Visored:
These are a group of ex-shinigami trying to obtain hollow powers. They want Ichigo to join this group since he posses a hollow inside of him. The hollow inside Ichigo will slowly take over him and he will not be able to do much after that.
